Do The Shoes Make The Man?
Flip Flops

Compared with women, most men don’t give a whole lot of thought about what they wear on their feet. As long as the shoes are comfortable and stay on properly, most guys as happy. However, as easy to please as most men are when it comes to footwear, it is safe to say that just about every guy has his own personal preference, or favorite, when it comes to what kinds of shoes he likes to wear the best. You probably don’t realize it, but your “go-to” shoes actually reveal a great deal about your underlying personality. Check out the following guide to discover what your shoes say about you.
Shoes
Athletic Tennis Shoes
If you like to run around in athletic tennis shoes whenever possible – but aren’t actually out on a run or a jog – then you’re probably the uber-athletic type of guy who likes to hit the gym as often as possible. One caveat, though: if your athletic tennis shoes look worn in, then you are truly passionate about fitness. If they are pristine and always look brand new, then they might be just for show.
Sneakers
Skater Shoes
We get it: skater shoes are comfortable. Vans have also become quite stylish, so it’s not unusual for grown men to wear them frequently. Just be aware that on some level, those skater shoes suggest a wistful yearning for the simplicity of your younger years.
Shoes
Flip Flops
Men who wear flip flops whenever they can – in good weather and in bad, for example – exude an aura of being a bit laissez-faire about their personal style. In some ways, flip flops are reminiscent of The Dude in The Big Lebowski; they suggest that you are something of a free spirit, and that you aren’t particularly worried about attracting the opposite sex.

Cowboy Boots
Unless you live in Texas and attend the rodeo regularly, cowboy boots really shouldn’t be your shoe of choice. If you insist on wearing them, keep in mind that they definitely give you a rugged, manly – and ridiculously out of place – appearance.

Dress Shoes
If you’re wearing dress shoes all the time, that probably means that you’re in a suit all the time, too. There’s no good reason to wear genuine dress shoes unless it’s for professional reasons – or for a glitzy night out on the town at a black-tie affair. In any other situation, they will really stand out like sore thumbs.

Dressy-Casual Shoes
Finding a nice pair of dressy yet casual shoes can be an excellent fail safe. These shoes might be slip ons with a bit of embellishment to give them an edge, or they might be just a step down from full-fledged dress shoes that you’d wear to the office. Either way, they will give you a trendy and image-conscious look that many women find very appealing. Bonus points if you wear dressy casual shoes that look a little bit worn in.

Doc Martens
Doc Martens, despite being way mainstream now, still give you an aura of being slightly out of the ordinary and might even give you a mysterious appeal. Assuming that you don’t pair them with full-fledged punk garb – in other words, that you wear regular clothes with them – they can give you a rather rakish and devil-may-care appeal. You probably don’t like to play by the rules, and that immensely appealing to many women.
