On February 15th, champion skier Bode Miller will compete in his first race of the Vancouver Olympics—the downhill. He is slated to race in all five Alpine events at the winter games, including the super-combi, super-G, giant slalom and slalom, according to Sasha Rearick, coach of the men’s U.S. Ski Team.

According to FanHouse, Miller is not in tip-top shape and has been debating retirement, therefore, it was not a given he would compete in all five events until last week’s announcement.
Rearick told the Associated Press, “I’m not so worried from the point of view of conditioning as much as I am that he hasn't’ had much time skiing, and the setups are still a challenge.”
“…Right now in downhill he’s going pretty good, and he knows what he’s going on; slalom is getting close. But in super-G and GS we’ve got a lot of work to do. He’s had no super-G training and no GS training, so that’s going to be important these next days here,” Rearick said.
FanHouse reports that Miller hasn't’t won a giant slalom since Dec. 2005 in Beaver Creek, Colo. In Mar. 2007, he finished third in the even at Lenzerheide, Switzerland.
Rearick said “The only think I’m expecting of Bode is to put down an inspiring run every single race… Go out and put down the type of skiing that he’s done all of his career and that has been inspiring to both himself, the fans and the coaching staff. That’s what I’m looking for, and I expect that.”

Bode Miller will trade his skis for a tennis racket after the Olympics and World Cup season.
Miller will attempt to qualify for the U.S. Open through a new national playoff system announced Tuesday by the U.S. Tennis Association.
Tennis aficionados around the country can compete for a spot in the Grand Slam.
The winner of the men's and women's championship will receive a wild-card entry into the U.S. Open qualifying tournament.
Miller is no stranger to tennis. He won the 1996 Maine state singles title in high school, and his family owns the Tamarack Tennis Camp in Easton, N.H.
Miller plans to compete in one of the 16 sectional qualifying tournaments this spring.
